Last Chance: We Need Your Evidence

This is your urgent reminder that the Award Arbitration Survey closes soon.

We need the best possible evidence to win better conditions for doctors in NSW.

We’ve commissioned Dr Sarah Wise from the University of Technology Sydney to independently gather data from salaried doctors across NSW Health. Your responses will help give an accurate depiction of what working conditions are actually like, and we can use this evidence in the arbitration process.

This evidence will inform our case on:

Working hours and compensation of overtime

Safe staffing and rostering practices

Balancing work and other responsibilities

Workload, skills and responsibilities

Costs and access to professional development

Your experience is critical.

The survey takes just 10–20 minutes, is completely anonymous, and is managed independently by UTS (HREC approval ETH25-10632).

What we’re fighting for: Our Draft Award

We have now submitted a comprehensive draft Award with the Industrial Relations Commission. You can log into your member portal to view the draft Award here.

This Award would greatly improve the working conditions of doctors across NSW and reflects our deep commitment to advocating for strong standards of patient care in the NSW public healthcare system.

Conciliation Begins

This week we have entered into formal conciliation with the Minns government.

Overseen by Acting Justice Kite, these conciliation sessions are a facilitated negotiation between our Union and the Minns Government. The purpose is to explore potential areas of agreement and narrow the scope of issues that may proceed to arbitration.

Conciliation presents an opportunity to secure wins and commitments for change that can improve the working lives of doctors. There will be multiple conciliation sessions, including a number this week.

We will provide a full update late next week detailing how discussions have gone so far.

In the meantime, we’ve prepared a factsheet for members explaining exactly what conciliation and arbitration are, what the legal process looks like, how we got to this point and how members can be involved.
